'The auditing scheme is a great way to enhance employability within the University, improves C.V ‘strength’. [and] provides both the student and the departments involved a chance to reflect on their attitudes towards sustainability.' Christopher Kilroy, Volunteer Environmental Auditor.

Environmental Auditors wanted!

Want hands on auditing experience? Want to add a valuable skill to your CV? Want to find out more about Sustainability at the University?

Applications are now open for students to apply to be volunteer Environmental Auditors as part of the University’s Green Impact project 2011/12. Green Impact is a national environmental accreditation scheme run by the National Union of Students. The project is now in its third year at the University of Exeter. This year we have 23 teams from across the University taking part. The teams work through an online workbook, completing criteria which will help them to green their work practices.

We are currently looking for students to conduct checklist audits of the teams. Student auditors will work in pairs and will conduct at least one audit each during the Auditing Week (30 April – 4 May). Audits normally take between 1-2 hours depending on the size of the Green Impact team. We are very flexible so audits can fit easily around any other commitments.

There will be a compulsory half day Auditing training session on Tuesday 20 March – successful volunteer auditors can attend either the morning or afternoon session depending on other commitments. The session will be run by the NUS and will be a fantastic addition to the CV. Once the audits have been completed the student auditors will also receive a certificate confirming their volunteering which they can also add to portfolios or CVs.

To apply: Send a short application paragraph to Kate Groome by 5pm, Friday 24 February. State your name, year and degree on your application. Please feel free to request more information before applying.
