All users must be registered with the University's private car sharing group
Save hundreds of pounds with new car share incentives
The University will be launching phase one of a suite of car sharing incentives on 1 November 2012.
Benefits will include only having to purchase one permit per car share team, preferential car sharing spaces and the assurance of an emergency travel home fund should a lift fail in the event of an emergency or unforeseen problem.
The incentives are open to all staff and students, as well as other users currently entitled to a standard University parking permit. All users must be registered as part of the University private car sharing group through carsharedevon (with a confirmed car share team match). A car share group must have at least two University based car driving members who car share for a minimum of 3 days per week.
Karen Gallagher, Sustainability Manager highlighted that: "We are pleased to offer car sharing incentives to University campus users. We have looked at ways to make it simpler and more beneficial for those who choose to car share to our university campuses."
These changes are an integral part of the University’s Sustainable Travel Plan 2010- 2015, they will save users money, benefit the environment though the reduction in carbon emissions and reduce the pressure on car parking.”
The new suite of incentives complements the well-established private car-sharing group and database on carsharedevon.com. The website has recently been updated making it even easier for those interested in car sharing to use. Key features of the new enhanced website include:
- Find matches along your route as well as where you live
- Find out how much money on fuel you will save
- Find out how much the carbon you will save
- All queries and comments addressed locally by the University’s Travel Plan Coordinator
