Accessing support

We believe that all students should have equal and fair access to Higher Education. We also recognise that studying at university isn’t as straightforward for everyone, and depending on your financial, personal or ethnic background, you may face additional challenges in both accessing Higher Education and throughout your studies.

We support around 1,000 young people annually through fair access programmes such as Exeter Scholars offering prospective students an opportunity to find out more about university, develop a passion for a chosen subject, and gain first-hand experience of student life at the University of Exeter.  We also support mature learners thorough our Mature Access Pathway

Once you arrive, we have dedicated staff who are on hand to help those who require additional support, including financial advice and assistance, access to accommodation, learning and career advice, peer support and help with wellbeing. There is a wide array of student support info on our widening participation student support pages

We are committed to supporting students from all walks of life and building an inclusive learning environment. We support equality and diversity across all of our campuses and are proud to welcome all students to our campuses, and are committed to supporting our LGBTQ+ community. We also welcome staff, students and visitors from all faith backgrounds, as well as those from none.

Get involved

Students are at the heart of Success for All.  We want to understand the challenges students face studying at Exeter, what we can do to help, and what students think of the support that is provided.  You can get involved by:

  • being paid to contribute your views about student life to the Exeter Students’ Guild Survey Superheros or Advisory Board.

  • looking out for invitations to take part in University surveys and focus groups.  This includes contributing to the evaluation of services, if invited.  All our Access and Participation Plan commitments will be evaluated and the results shared across the higher education sector via TASO.

  • Contacting your Students’ Guild or Union about specific issues you are facing.  Several Guild and Union Officers are represented on the groups that oversee the implementation of Success for All.
