“The University of Exeter welcomes students from all over the globe, which creates a richly diverse community.
I found the campus so vibrant, and so many different cultural festivals are celebrated here, such as Chinese/Lunar New Year (during this time the Streatham Campus Forum holds a street party to host the celebrations) or Diwali (where there is a light procession down Forum Hill followed by fireworks on the Business School lawns).
The newly opened Multifaith Centre on Streatham Campus is yet another space for those of any and no faith to come together. University is a great time to meet people from all walks of life! ”

"Moving away to university is a big step, and one of the most valuable things you gain isn’t just academic – it’s personal growth. For a lot of us, it’s the first time living away from home. Suddenly you’re doing your own food shop, managing your own time, making your own appointments and figuring it all out as you go.
But you’re not doing it completely alone. One of the things I really love about Exeter is how much support is available. From wellbeing services and academic tutors to peer mentoring and the Students’ Guild, there are people you can turn to whenever you need help, whether that’s with uni work, mental health, or just adjusting to life here. The campus also has all the facilities that you will need right on your doorstep, from a doctors to food shops and a library."

"When I first moved away from home for university, I was worried about my finances, but I was also worried that my friends would not be in the same situation as me. Whilst I have met a huge variety of people, from various places, backgrounds and financial situations, most people are money conscious like me. This meant that when suggesting cheaper socialising options, most people were still keen to get involved!
University has also opened the door to meeting so many new people originating from different places around the world. One of my favourite ways to learn about other people’s culture and lives is to take part in a potluck dinner. These events involve each attendee bringing a different sharing platter of a food which is then shared with everyone. These get togethers mean there is lots of new and yummy food, with minimised costs for everyone. "

"Join a society. Whether it’s a cultural one or a sports one, doesn’t matter, just JOIN ONE. I cannot stress this enough, it is SO helpful for making friends and building a community. If you don’t already know, Exeter has a ridiculous amount of societies on offer ranging from hobby ones like crochet or Exsoc (Expedition Society, which I am a trip leader for!) to cultural ones relating to nationality or religion to subject-specific ones like history or law, not to mention sport or performing arts or music and so many more.
The University of Exeter has too many societies to pass up on them and being a member of one (or a few) can really help with change and adapting to life at Exeter. All of my friends are from societies, and society meetings give me a chance to catch up with many that I may have missed in the business of the week. I am so lucky to be in a University where I am totally spoiled for choice, and in such a green and lush region."
