The rules on VAT mean that students are exempt from paying VAT on hot food, which is why there are separate prices for students and non-students. The University is therefore not offering a discount to students that they are not offering to staff, but simply following the VAT rules in not charging students VAT on hot food.

The Cross Keys building at the St Luke's campus provides an exciting, vibrant place to study, meet, eat and drink.
On the ground floor, the cafe is open throughout the day offering grab and go items, including Fairtrade hot drinks, sandwiches, snacks, soft drinks and fruit. In addition, the kitchen counter introduces an exciting new hot food menu.
Options include freshly made breakfast pots and wraps available from 8.00 – 10.30. Take a look at a sample breakfast menu. New for this year are tofu and smashed avocado with chilli sauce wraps.
A daily changing lunch menu is provided from 11.30 - 14.30 and features boxed meals with delicious fresh flavours, burgers, wraps and a selection of sides. Customers can enjoy new lunch items this year including smoked jackfruit hot box and homemade sourdough pizzas.

The first floor of Cross Keys provides a seating area, increasing the capacity of Cross Keys from approximately 140 to around 250. Detailed access information is available on the AccessAble website.
