Navratri and Diwali celebrations

Diwali information: Sunday 19 October 2025

Students, families and local residents are invited to join us on Streatham campus to enjoy Diwali celebrations on Sunday 19 October. Please note these are provisional times for the event.

14:30	Puja led by Hindu Chaplain in the Forum
15:00-17:00	Activity stalls open in the Forum. Come and see our beautiful rangoli, find out more about Diwali at our information board, try painting a diya, join a henna workshop and try henna tattoos yourself, have fun in a dance workshop, make your own diwali card or badge, try on some traditional dress or listen to a traditional story incorporating performances. New for this year: Poker (over 18 only and strictly no gambling for money!) There will be a small fee for diya painting, henna workshops and food.
15:00-17:00	Food served in the Terrace (please follow signs from Forum. The Terrace is level with the Great Hall). Vada Pav served with green chutney, coconut chutney and tamarind chutney Butter Paneer Curry* Chana Saag* Vegetable Samosas x 2 Masala fries * served with pilau rice, traditional naan bread, green chutney, chilli sauce, mint yoghurt, tamarind chutney
(doors open at 17:00) 17:30-18:30	Diwali Spectacular! Traditional and contemporary performances in the Great Hall. Come and enjoy our students showcasing their talents. The performance is free and we invite you to come early and stay for the whole performance. Seats are available first come first served. Doors will open at 17:00 and close at 17.20 promptly to allow participants and performers to enjoy the show. At the end of the performance our Dohl Drummer will lead you to the fireworks
18:45	Fireworks, rear of XFI Building*

Activities
There will be a small charge for some activities. Card payments only please.
Large diya painting £3.50, Small diya painting £2.50, Henna workshop £2.
Please note we are a cashless campus. Card machines will be available for payment of activities and food.

Car Parking
Car parking is free on the Streatham Campus on weekends. As activities are based around the centre of campus we would recommend using car parks C and D.

Coach from Penryn campus
We are pleased to welcome students from our Penryn campus to join the celebrations.
Coach departs 11.30 from Penryn Campus bus stop, leaving Streatham Campus at 19.15 and arriving back at Penryn Campus around 21.30.

*Fireworks are weather dependent but will only be cancelled in event of high winds and very heavy rain. Cancellation of fireworks will be posted here and on university social media if necessary.

Navratri celebrations Garba Night Saturday 27 October 2025

Join our Hindu Society as they celebrate Navratri with an evening of Garba. Get ready to twirl, spin and dance the night away to vibrant music, dazzling attire and non-stop Garba energy! They will begin the evening with a traditional Puja and after the Garba food will be available.
