Speaker: Dr Stuart Marshall
Stuart Marshall joined Unilever’s corporate safety group in 1983 with a BSc in Environmental Biology and a PhD in The Fate and effects of organolead compounds in natural systems. Over the subsequent 30 + years his career in Unilever has been centred on the environmental risk assessment of chemicals in home and personal care products marketed around the globe. His changing responsibilities have involved a range of scientific roles and activities including aquatic toxicity testing, applied research, laboratory design, people management, advising business units on safety risks, co-ordinating research programmes. Stuart will reflect on his career to provide some insights into the pros and cons of working as an environmental safety scientist in industry.
