Spatio-temporal Models to Guide Infectious Disease Surveillance
Event details
Our seminar for next week is by Dr Tatiana Portella (Fiocruz Institute, Brazil).
Title: Spatio-temporal Models to Guide Infectious Disease Surveillance
Abstract: Surveillance of infectious diseases is essential for understanding their epidemiology. Through ongoing, representative data collection and statistical modeling, we can characterize and predict temporal patterns, detect outbreaks, identify risk factors, and inform evidence-based prevention and control strategies. This presentation will showcase examples of statistical methods used to identify areas at high risk of zoonotic disease spillover and to support the early detection of outbreaks of influenza and other respiratory viruses in Brazil.
