Entry requirements

The information below will allow you to check qualifications from your country or territory to see if they may be accepted for entry to the University of Exeter, and the equivalent grades required. Undergraduate entry requirements for students from Myanmar

A typical offer falls within the range AAA–ABB for A Level or IB Diploma 36- 30 or HL666- HL555 subject-specific requirements may be applicable, depending on the programme of study for which you apply. 

The Certificate of Completion of Basic Education High School or Matriculation Examination is not suitable for undergraduate entry. You will need to take a foundation programme, such as one of our International Study Centre International Foundation courses at Exeter's Streatham Campus, to be eligible for entry onto an undergraduate course.

Postgraduate entry requirements for students from Myanmar

Postgraduate Taught

There are a few combinations routes possible for a student from Myanmar in applying to Exeter. 

We can consider all the recognised Universities in Myanmar that are listed in UK-ENIC. A list has been provided as follows: 

  • 5 years Bachelor's (Hons) degrees were introduced in 2011-2012. The Bachelor's (Hons) Degree is often studied as a 3 Year programme after completing the first 2 Years of a Bachelor's Pass Degree.

UK Equivalency 

5 years Bachelor's (Hons) degree (2011-2012). This is made up of their Bachelor's (Hons) Degree 3 Year programme + 2 Years of a Bachelor's Pass Degree (GPA Scale of 5.0 or percentages)

  • 4 Year Bachelor’s Pass Degree + 2 Years Masters OR 4 Year degrees in Professional subjects include: Bachelor of Technology, Law, Pharmacy, Medical Technology, Nursing, Community Health Nursing and Education + 2 Years Masters.

  • 5- 6-year degree in Professional subjects (equivalent of bachelor’s Ordinary Degree on UK-ENIC) including Bachelor's Medicine and Surgery, Engineering, Dental Surgery, Traditional Medicine, Nautical Sciences, Architecture, Forestry and Veterinary Sciences.

If you are interested in our Finance Masters courses or Management Masters courses but do not quite meet our entry requirements, you may be able to gain entry by first attaining a Graduate Diploma via the International Study Centre. 

Postgraduate Research

Applicants for postgraduate research programmes such as PhD or MPhil will need to demonstrate experience of research methodologies, and will normally have completed a Master’s degree equivalent with a thesis or dissertation.
