An Alumni and supporters event
Date23 May 2022

PlaceThe Crosby Street Hotel, 79 Crosby St, New York, NY 10012

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Exeter, Professor Lisa Roberts, has the pleasure of inviting you to a drinks and networking reception at The Crosby Street Hotel, New York City on the evening of Monday 23 May.

This special occasion offers you the opportunity to hear from one of the world’s foremost marine conservationists, Professor Callum Roberts, who has been leading efforts to conserve the biodiversity of our oceans.

The oceans are home to a rich diversity of habitats and species and reduce the overheating of our planet by storing vast amounts of carbon dioxide. However, they face growing threats from fishing, deep seabed mining, climate change, acidification, plastic and other pollutants. Research undertaken by Professor Roberts and colleagues from Exeter is central to efforts to preserve 30% of our oceans by 2030.

How can we achieve this ’30 x 30’ target?  Professor Roberts will address this urgent question alongside a panel of special guests, followed by the chance for you to ask questions.

This event is also a great opportunity to network with fellow alumni in New York over drinks and canapes and to catch-up with all the news from your university. Vice-Chancellor Professor Lisa Roberts will share the latest updates from campus and our plans for the future.
