Chair and opening comments from Professor Caitlin DeSilvey, ESI Associate Director for Transdisciplinary Research

The practice of working across disciplinary boundaries is core to the ESI vision, and over the last decade scholars in the Institute have developed a range of creative ways of producing knowledge together. At one end of the spectrum of collaboration is transdisciplinary research, which involves researchers crafting new methods and approaches at the intersection of established disciplines. In this event, we will hear about the journeys of two early career researchers who have used the ESI as a springboard for their own transdisciplinary research practice, beginning their journeys as PhD students and continuing through their careers as researchers and lecturers in the university. This panel event will provide a platform for them to reflect on their experiences, in dialogue with their PhD supervisors and members of the audience, and to celebrate the ESI’s contribution to advancing integrated strategies for effective environmental research.

This will be held at the Environment and Sustainability Institute, University of Exeter on Penryn Campus.  It will be a hybrid event and interested participants outside the ESI can join us on MS Teams, if they prefer. Please email esidirector@exeter.ac.uk for the link.
