Physiology & Behaviour
This research area aims to uncover fundamental rules that govern whole organism physiology and behaviour. How does an organism regulate it’s physiological functions to orchestrate adaptive responses in ever-changing environment? What are the regulatory mechanisms underlying homeostasis? By understanding the quantitative rules of adaptive processes, we will gain insights to how they goes awry and lead to diseases. This research area interacts closely with all other research areas of the LSI and utilizes state-of-art tools to study biological processes at different scales ranging from molecules to whole organism. We rely heavily on theoretical and computational approaches to understand the complex rules that govern how an organism functions.
