Research and training visits
The MRC CMM offers Research and Training Visits for PGR students, post-docs, medical students and clinicians to explore research questions, gain experience with advanced technologies, or receive specialised training in medical mycology.
Participants can work with a multidisciplinary team at a leading research center for up to 12 months, with access toacademic mentorship and state-of-the-art facilities. This is a self-funded opportunity, requiring applicants to covertuition fees (for students), bench fees (~£300/month) and living costs.
Eligible Applicants:
PGR Students: Those registered at other institutions who wish to conduct research at the MRC CMM as part of their degree.
Summer Students: Medical students seeking laboratory experience for up to 10 weeks.
Post-doctoral Researchers: Staff from other institutions interested in unique techniques or experimental design.
Clinicians/Clinical Trainees: Those pursuing clinical academic careers; registration as a PGR student at Exeter is required if part of a degree.
Expression of interest Process
Contact a Principal Investigator (PI) to discuss the aim of your visit and confirm their support as your academic mentor.
Email your application to mrccmm@exeter.ac.uk with the subject 'Visiting Researcher Application.'
Include: (i) your current lab/institution/supervisory team, (ii) proposed dates (allow several weeks for processing) and (iii) funding details for tuition, bench fees and living costs.

Bench Fee (All)
A minimum monthly fee of approx. £300* will be charged for basic consumables and equipment access at the MRC Centre. *Additional fees may apply for specific projects or equipment. The fees can be paid by the visitor or academic mentor but must be agreed upon before visit approval. Alternatively, the visitor can apply for funding to cover the costs.
Living Costs (All)
Applicants will need to ensure they can cover their living costs while at the Centre.
