About this course: Would you like to spend some time exploring how to make your sessions appeal to school aged children? Do you organise or deliver sessions for school pupils to visit your department, or go to school and work with pupils there? Do you know what your responsibilities are? This is an introductory session we hope will open the door on more exciting and dynamic lessons.
Learning outcomes: As a result of attending this course, you will be able to:. - Know what to do before you arrive at school. - Understand school's expectations of visitors. - Understand safeguarding and responsibilities of all adults. - Understand our role in raising aspirations and Widening Participation. If you are teaching larger groups or on a more regular basis you might also be interested in the 1 1/2 day course that complements this one.
Who should attend this course: This course is for Staff who visit schools and would like to make those visits as productive as possible. This is aimed at staff who might visit a school on an irregular pattern, once or twice a term. You might deliver a session on a specific theme, or talk about careers in your field. You might be working with small groups of children or delivering an episode within a lesson or assembly.
