People Management: Difficult Conversations

Course overview: Difficult conversations are an inevitable part of management, but they do not have to be confrontational or counterproductive. This practical session equips managers with the skills and confidence to approach challenging discussions with clarity, empathy, and professionalism. Participants will learn how to structure conversations effectively, address conflict and defensiveness constructively, and navigate emotional responses while maintaining positive working relationships. The session also explores the importance of employee well-being, helping managers balance organisational needs with compassion and support for individuals. By the end of the session, attendees will be better equipped to handle sensitive situations and achieve positive outcomes through open, respectful, and purposeful dialogue.
Learning outcomes: As a result of attending this course you will be able to:. - Structure and conduct difficult conversations with confidence and professionalism. - Manage conflict, defensiveness and emotional responses effectively. - Balance organisational requirements with employee wellbeing and support.
