About this course:

The Researcher Concordat is an important tool in the armoury of researchers - it sets commitments to your career development in stone.

The University of Exeter is signatory to the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, and this session will champion how the Concordat can provide researchers with leverage and direction.

Researchers - why should you attend? - You are entitled to a minimum of 10 days of development a year.

- The Concordat helps you to prioritise your career development.

- Understanding your own commitments, and those of your managers, the institution and funders.

PIs / Managers - why should you attend? - Show your team you care about their career development - in or out of HE.

- Understand your responsibilities as a manager of researchers.

- Build the Concordat into PDR and development conversations to enhance our research culture.

Learning outcomes:

As a result of attending this course, you will be able to:.

- Understand the purpose and aims of the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers.

- Identify the obligations of the four key stakeholders (researchers, managers, institutions, funders) to meet the Concordat's aims.

- Identify how you can use the Concordat to enhance your own career development.

- Dedicate time to planning your minimum 10 days of development.

Who should attend this course:

This course is open to all research-active staff, and would be especially useful to ECRs and to PIs and managers of researchers.
