About this course: - What export controls are, and their function, and relevant regulatory frameworks. - What an export is, what types of exports are controlled. - How to identify whether your research is in scope of export controls. - The export licence application process and timeline. - Researcher responsibilities and non-compliance. - Internal and external resources to support you.
Learning outcomes: As a result of attending this course, you will be able to: - Describe what export controls are and explain their function. - Explain what constitutes an export in a research context. - Recognise why export controls may impact research activities. - Apply basic screening to identify whether research information or materials are in scope of export control regulations. - Outline the export licence application process. - Locate and make effective use of internal and external support resources.
Who should attend this course: The course is specifically designed Research active staff and would be particularly useful to Early Career Researchers who are planning to or currently collaborating with academics located outside the UK, whether on funded or unfunded research.
