Researcher Development : Getting Your Research Approved - Sponsorship, Standards & Support

About this course: This course serves to help researchers understand the external requirements for conducting studies in a medical or social care setting. This course includes how to apply for and secure sponsorship from the university. The training will equip researchers with tips on how to ensure they get the most out of the process, how best to navigate the requirements of external approval bodies, and how to manage their project comprehensively and compliantly.
Learning outcomes: As a result of attending this course, you will be able to: - Identify whether you are conducting a study that requires sponsorship. - Know where to look when identifying what approvals are required. - Understand what other organisations are involved and their role in the regulatory landscape. - Understand how the UoE sponsorship team can support you as a researcher. - Know where to find supportive resources and further training.
Who should attend this course: The course is specifically designed Research active staff and would be particularly useful to Early Career Researchers who are planning to conduct research with NHS patients, their data or tissue, NHS staff, or using NHS facilities. Presenter(s): This session is delivered by Suzy Wignall. Suzy has worked in both academia and the NHS and before joining the university had various roles in clinical research. She was as a Clinical Trials Assistant at Dorset County Hospital before becoming the Research Governance Manager there in 2016. Suzy was also the Clinical Research Governance Advisor at Bournemouth University before coming to Exeter.
Before the course: Some Clinical Research Governance resources will be shared prior to the session. A joining link will also be provided beforehand.
