This session will be DELIVERED VIRTUALLY - joining instructions will be provided beforehand.

About this course:

Providing an overview of research presentations in a conference scenario.

From developing your presentation, narrative development, style, and presentation tips from traditional presentations to posters and Peta Kucha.

There will also be a review of various software options such as Canva, Adobe Express or PowerPoint and increased use of AI.

Learning outcomes:

As a result of attending this course, you will be able to:.

- Define key elements in designing an effective presentation.

- Gain an understanding of a range of narrative techniques to support research dissemination.

- Create engaging content utilising specific software tools.

- Present effectively in front of an audience.

The course is specifically designed Research active staff and would be particularly useful to Early Career Researchers interested in fine-tuning or developing skills in presenting at conferences across a range of formats.

Anyone interested in creating more exciting and dynamic conference presentations.

Presenter(s):

This session is delivered by Dr Simon Strange.

Simon is a Research Dissemination Officer at the University of Exeter and previously Research Manager for story at Bath Spa University.

His PhD was in creative arts education, exploring connections between art school pedagogy and the development of popular musicians (https://www.linkedin.com/in/simonstrange1/).
