Researcher Development : Trusted Research Essentials - Secure and Informed Collaboration

About this course: Trusted Research helps ensure that research remains open, collaborative, and secure. In this course, participants will be introduced to the key principles of Trusted Research and the importance of managing risks associated with international collaboration. Staff will learn how to identify potential threats and implement practical safeguards to protect people, research, data, knowledge, and assets from theft, misuse, and undue influence. The course explores the key principles of Trusted Research:. . - Know Your Activity - understanding the nature, purpose and potential sensitivities of your research or innovation activity. - Know Your Partners - due diligence on collaborators and funders and end user risks. - Know Your Legal Obligations - recognising and complying with relevant legal and regulatory requirement, including Export Controls, the National Security and Investment Act and the Foreign Influence Registration Scheme. - Know Your Threat - identifying and mitigating potential security risks and vulnerabilities. By the end of the session, participants will be able to recognise potential risks, and understand processes designed to protect research, people, data and innovation.
Learning outcomes: As a result of attending this course, you will be able to:. - Apply the four Trusted Research principles: Know Your Activity, Know Your Partners, Know Your Legal Obligations and Know Your Threat. - Recognise key legal and regulatory requirements affecting research collaborations. - Understand institutional processes that support secure research and innovation activity.
