Eligibility requirements

Staff Category Who Does This Include? Access to Staff Training Additional Information
Open-ended and fixed term contract staff All research-active staff (R Only, E&R, E&S) on the payroll, including NHS staff employed by the University. Access permitted to all RD staff training. N/A
External Partners (National Trust, Forest Research, UKHSA, INTO, UPP, FX Plus, Northcott Theatre Staff) Partner firms of the University. Access possible on a fill-up basis. Requests accepted once UoE staff demand has been met. Email researcherdevelopment@exeter.ac.uk at least two weeks prior to the course start date. Booking confirmed if space is available.
Associates, Honorary, Interns, Secondments Individuals in associate or temporary academic roles. Access may be granted on a case-by-case basis with line manager justification. Requests accepted once UoE staff demand has been met first. Email researcherdevelopment@exeter.ac.uk two weeks prior to course start date. Booking confirmed if space exists.
Temporary Workers (Temporary Staff Bank, Claims) Temporary staff engaged through staffing banks or claims processes. Case-by-case access with line manager justification, subject to availability. Priority given to permanent staff. Requests must be submitted in advance to researcherdevelopment@exeter.ac.uk, indicating if research-active and relevance of training to their context.
Student Campus Partnership Students employed through the Student Campus Partnership. No access to University of Exeter RD staff training. Contact the Student Campus Partnership webpage for more information.
Student Business Partnerships Students participating in the SBP scheme. No access to University of Exeter RD training. Should complete training at host organisation. Contact the Student Business Partnership Scheme (SBP) for more information.
Graduate Business Partners Graduates employed through the University, DCC or The RAMM. No access to University of Exeter RD staff training. Refer to GBP Advice and Employing Organisation Advice.
Postgraduate Researchers PhD and Masters students. No access to University of Exeter RD staff training; may attend shared (Research Staff/PGR) courses. Visit the Doctoral College website for development opportunities.
Staff employed overseas (paid by the University but supplied by another company) Typically staff employed via the International Office. Requests agreed on a case-by-case basis. Most likely to include International Office staff.
Student Ambassadors Students working as ambassadors. No access to University of Exeter RD staff training. N/A
