Employer in the Foyer
An Employer in the Foyer offers a convenient drop-in format held in an academic building, allowing you to raise your profile and engage with a targeted group of students.
These events are particularly valuable for students with lecture-heavy schedules, such as those in Engineering, as they provide brief but meaningful interactions close to their classes.
The relaxed setting encourages both casual conversations with passersby and deeper discussions with students who have researched your organisation and are eager to learn more.
Events can be arranged as a one-off or as part of a series during your visit.

All locations are within easy reach of cafes, vending machines or kitchen facilities, which you are welcome to make use of.
An Employer in the Foyer event consists of a table and two chairs, wifi and space for a banner stand. Access to an electrical point is subject to availability.
Most occur during the autumn and spring term, with October and February typically our busiest periods. However, Employer in the Foyer events are available throughout the academic year.
Held Monday - Friday, they can take place anytime between 10:00-16:00. While most organisations prefer slots from 10:30-14:00 or 11:30-15:30, the timing is entirely to your choosing. To ensure maximum students attendance, we do however, recommend that you cover the lunch period and ask that your event is booked for a minimum two hours.
Please note that set-up can be as early as 9:00, whilst set down must be complete by 16:30.
Employer in the Foyer is advertised via:
- The Career Zone website
- Handshake, our internal events platform
- An email circular to over 20,000 Streatham and St Luke’s campus students
- Via our social media channels.
- Faculty-based marketing, where relevant
- Book early to secure your preferred date – the most popular slots (especially in October, November, and February) fill up quickly.
- Maximise your publicity – booking in advance gives us more time to promote your event to students.
- Notice required – a minimum of 4 weeks’ notice is needed for all events, and at least 8 weeks ahead of high-demand periods (October, November, February).
Employer in the Foyer is charged at £75+VAT. Charges include marketing as outlined above and support from our team on the day.
