Recruitment presentations
We offer employers the opportunity to engage directly with students by delivering recruitment presentations.
These events allow you to showcase your organisation, share insights into your sector, and connect with potential applicants while sharing your upcoming opportunities.
Bespoke event options differ between our Streatham Campus, Exeter, Devon and our Penryn Campus in Cornwall.

Streatham campus (Devon)
Recruitment presentations on our Streatham Campus in Exeter, Devon can be delivered in-person, on or off campus. These events are best suited to employers with an established campus presence, strong brand recognition, and multiple annual vacancies or programmes.
They provide an excellent opportunity to:
- Introduce your organisation and sector.
- Outline opportunities and application processes.
- Engage students through Q&A and networking.
Presentations can be scheduled throughout the academic year, though we recommend the autumn term (October–November) for maximum student engagement.
Timing and scheduling
- Presentations take place Monday–Thursday, either during the day or in the early evening.
- Daytime events usually run for 1 hour and work best over the lunch period or mid-afternoon. Please note that catering and networking are not available for daytime sessions due to limited room availability.
- Evening events typically begin at 18:30, once teaching has finished. These events often last 1–2 hours and may include Q&A, networking and catering.
Location options
- On-campus: We will arrange a suitable venue and any required equipment. Catering and networking are available for evening sessions.
- Off-campus: Employers may also host evening presentations at local venues, such as hotels in Exeter city centre. Bookings for off-campus venues should be made directly by the employer.
- At your premises: Local employers may consider hosting at their own offices if practical.
Events are open to all students at our Exeter campuses by default but can be tailored to specific disciplines or Faculties.
When you book a recruitment presentation with the Employer Events Team, your event will be promoted widely to ensure maximum visibility with our students. We advertise through:
- The Career Zone website
- Handshake, our internal events platform
- An email circular to over 20,000 Streatham and St Luke’s campus students
- Our social media channels
- Faculty-based marketing, where relevant
All presentations are listed by our team on Handshake with an electronic sign-up system, so you can see how many students are planning to attend. We will get in touch around a week before your event with current registration numbers, giving you time to prepare and tailor your session.
Events booked through our team are exclusively for University of Exeter students and graduates, ensuring you reach a focused audience of engaged candidates.
Attendance
We’ll work with you to help attract a strong student audience and to avoid clashes with similar events wherever possible. Final attendance will naturally vary depending on student interests, timetables, and other activities happening on campus.
Our dedicated marketing ensures your event stands out to students actively exploring career opportunities.
- Book early to secure your preferred date – the most popular slots (especially in October, November, and February) fill up quickly.
- Maximise your publicity – booking in advance gives us more time to promote your event to students.
- Notice required – a minimum of 4 weeks’ notice is needed for all events, and at least 8 weeks ahead of high-demand periods (October, November, February).
- Daytime on-campus presentations: £100 + VAT (1-hour max, no catering).
- Evening on-campus presentations: £150 + VAT (up to 2 hours, can include networking and catering, plus additional charges for catering).
- Off-campus (city centre): £100 + VAT (marketing and staffing support).
- Virtual or multi-university events: Free to list directly on Handshake.
Please note there may be additional costs for catering, AV support, porters or cleaners for on campus events, depending on your event needs.

Penryn Campus (Cornwall)
At Penryn, recruitment presentations provide a more intimate way to connect with students. Events can include:
- Presentations with Q&A and networking.
- Informal, pre-interview conversations with targeted students.
- Drop-in promotional stands in busy areas (e.g. the Exchange building).
The presentations format has long been popular with the Camborne School of Mines and critical minerals community, often branded under the “Pint ’n’ Pasty” banner.
- Timing: Autumn term is most popular (October–November), followed by February–March.
- Format:
- Presentations: up to 1 hour, often followed by networking.
- Drop-in stands: a few hours to a full day, indoors or outdoors.
- Informal conversations: in booked rooms or campus cafés.
- Virtual events: Add your event directly to Handshake for promotion to students.
- Promoted via the Career Zone Cornwall website, newsletters, social media, and direct Faculty/lecture announcements.
- Student sign-up managed electronically via Handshake.
- Book throughout the year, but spaces are limited.
- Minimum 4 weeks’ notice recommended to ensure effective promotion.
- No administration fee for presentations or drop-in stands.
- Catering for networking can be arranged via on-campus catering (charged at cost).
