National Government and Civil Service Fast Stream
If you’re curious, determined and keen to address the biggest challenges impacting the UK, a career in National Government could be for you. Many graduates choose to pursue impactful careers by working for the Civil Service which supports the government to effectively implement its policies. The Civil Service employs around 548,000 people who work in a wide range of departments including the Department for Education, the Government Digital Service and the National Crime Agency.
Those looking to develop a career in national government will often apply to the Civil Service Fast Stream. This is an accelerated leadership development programme which offers structured learning, on-the-job coaching and mentoring, and a clear career path in a government profession. There are 17 fast stream schemes including Government Policy, Human Resources, Cyber Security and Finance. As well as offering the opportunity to shape nationwide change, the Fast Stream offers a competitive salary and upon completion of the programme, fast streamers have an earning potential of £45,000-£55,000.
You do not have to complete the Civil Service Fast Stream in order to work in National Government and can apply directly for a range of exciting graduate jobs in the Civil Service.
