Inclusive Internet Package: Glide Gigabit*

*Your internet package is the capacity available for shared use across all your devices associated to your account.

Individual devices will have a maximum achievable speed of 950Mbps on wired connections, with a typical average of 600Mbps and standard deviation of 100Mbps during peak hours of 20:00-22:00 (as defined by Ofcom).

The speed you can achieve on your wireless connection may vary due to things we cannot control, like the capability of your device or the number of users online during high usage. Our Wi-Fi service guarantees an attainable median average speed of 170Mbps for at least 50% of our customers during peak hours of 20:00-22:00 (as defined by Ofcom). Speed tests can be run from the Glide Support app available to download on both Android and iOS.

The internet provision is suitable for most study purposes but may not be adequate for gaming and other leisure activities.

You can find details on Terms of Use and broadband speed on the Glide website

Glide Student recommends that all residents install and keep an up-to-date anti-virus package. When registering, you will be asked to accept the Glide Student Terms and Conditions (including Acceptable Usage Policy).

If you experience issues, you can contact the Glide Student Support Desk, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year via Twitter, telephone, email, Live Chat or SMS or by downloading the 'Glide Support' app.

TV licence

You need to buy a TV licence if you’re watching live TV on a personal television or device in your bedroom and any communal area. Watching BBC iPlayer live, catch up or on demand also requires a licence.

In accommodation where there are sockets, they are inactive and do not function, so you will need to watch TV on a laptop or desktop.

Only TVs in University communal areas which are provided by the University are covered by the University’s TV licence.
