Level 4 Civil Engineering Senior Technician (CertHE) progressing to Level 6 Civil Engineer (BEng)

Laing O’Rourke is an international engineering and construction company delivering state-of-the-art infrastructure and buildings projects for clients in the UK, Middle East and Australia.

Eligibility Requirements -

To be considered applicants must be on track to achieve either:  

  • 4 GCSEs at C/4+, including Maths & English  
  • 3 A Level's working towards or achieved grades of ABB (128 UCAS points). A Levels must include Maths and a Science Subject (preferably Physics)  
  • BTEC Extended Diploma in a construction related subject (Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction and Built Environment etc) working towards or achieved grades of DMM. Modules studied must include ‘Further Engineering Mathematics' and preferably ‘Calculus to solve Engineering problems'  
  • IB Math's HL5 and another science subject HL5    
  • T level in Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing – Distinction

Our apprenticeship programme gives you exposure to areas such as Relationship & Transaction Management (RTM) and Trust & Securities Services (TSS) — business lines that play a key role in the international capital markets. 

What you’ll do - As part of the team, you’ll quickly gain the confidence to take on real projects by learning first-hand how and what we deliver for clients worldwide within our Trust and Agency Services product area.

As you’re supported by expert colleagues from across our business and start to develop your professional network, your responsibilities might involve:

  • Supporting clients through onboarding and Know Your Client (KYC) processes
  • Providing customer service and relationship-management support
  • Assisting with technical guidance for the bank’s online access channels
  • Participating in client calls and reviewing client performance, including pricing
  • Helping with transaction management and project work across the division

Alongside the structured training of live projects and online study, you’ll receive direct support and on-the-job coaching from your line manager, mentor and HR team, developing new knowledge, skills, and ideas that will enable you to inspire real change through continuous learning.

Eligibility Criteria - At the start of the programme, you should have: GCSE Maths and English (A*–C / 4–9) or equivalent and at least three A Levels at grade B or above (or equivalent qualifications)

You must also meet government apprenticeship funding requirements, hold a British or EU passport (and relevant immigration documentation such as a biometric residence permit), and have lived in the EU for the past three years.

Level 6 Project Manager (BSc) Degree Apprenticeship

What You’ll Need:

 You will need to have one of the below (or equivalent level qualification):

  • A Level 4 qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., Construction Technician Standard, HNC, or HND in Construction)
  • GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Basic Construction experience (e.g., site work, internships, or placements)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with
  • Powerproject and CATO is desirable  

What You'll Do:

As an Assistant Project Manager (Apprentice), you will support project delivery from pre-construction through to completion on projects ranging from £1m to £10m. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Project Manager with day-to-day co-ordination of project teams and subcontractors
  • Supporting the development of site logistics and transport plans
  • Monitoring and reporting on specific work package delivery
  • Coordinating design information between consultants and trade contractors
  • Performing site-based Quality Assurance (QA) checks and audits
  • Supporting Health & Safety induction and compliance monitoring
  • Aiding in contract administration and document preparation
  • Participating in client and design team meetings, including agenda preparation and minute taking
  • Supporting planning condition management and contractor communication

You will also assist the Senior Project Manager and Commercial Team with procurement, valuations, and commercial reporting
