Exeter Excellence Scholarships 2025/26 - Postgraduate Taught (Masters) *January 2026 entry only* NOW CLOSED

About the award

Our Exeter Excellence Scholarships recognise outstanding academic achievement, offering funding to help cover the costs of studying at the University of Exeter. We are committed to attracting talented students from around the world to become part of our dynamic university community where, as a scholar, you will have access to exceptional teaching, learning, and academic research whilst contributing to our vibrant global community. 

Scholarships available:

Awards of £3,000, £5,000 or £10,000.

Postgraduate taught awards for January 2026 entry are being offered for the following campus-based Masters programmes in the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy:

Business and Management

Finance

Data Science

Computer Science

Engineering

Only the programmes listed above are eligible. (Postgraduate Certificates, Postgraduate Diplomas, Degree Apprenticeships, fully online or distance learning programmes are not eligible.)

Entry requirements

You can apply for one of these scholarships if you:

  • have International fee status (including any EU applicants required to pay International fees);
  • already hold an offer to study an eligible Postgraduate taught degree at the University of Exeter, beginning in January 2026;
  • did not apply in Round 1 or 2  of the 2025/26 Exeter Excellence scholarship scheme (unless this was for a different programme).

If you are yet to make your Masters programme application, then please visit our Postgraduate taught study pages for January 2026 entry. You are encouraged to submit your programme application promptly, for the best chance of receiving your admission decision before the scholarship deadline.    

Scholarship recipients are selected on:

  • Academic merit, based on the information you have supplied in your Masters programme application.  Applicants will be expected to demonstrate that they have achieved or are able to achieve the equivalent of UK upper second class degree (2:1).   • The ability to demonstrate the following as part of the application process: academic and career ambitions; a clear plan for making the most of the study opportunity; a sense of social responsibility and willingness to engage with the Exeter community.  

How to apply

A personal statement (of no more than 300 words) is required as part of the form, responding to the following questions:

  1. What are your ambitions for the future and how will your studies at Exeter help you to achieve them?
  2. What will you contribute to the study experience/environment on campus at Exeter?
  3. As a scholar, how might you act as an ambassador for the University?  

**The deadline has been extended to 27 November 2025** Offer holders who apply for a scholarship will be notified by the end of the day shown below. 

Date of scholarship application - Notification date

  • Up to 30 October 2025 - Wednesday 19 November 2025
  • Between 31 October 2025 and 13 November 2025 - Thursday 27 November 2025
  • Between 14 November 2025 and 27 November 2025 - Thursday 11 December 2025

These scholarships are awarded as a reduction in the first-year International tuition fees. They are not recurrent for subsequent years of study. They can be combined with a University of Exeter Postgraduate Taught Scholarship 2025/26 for Bangladesh, Canada, Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey or Vietnam to a maximum award value of £10,000.
