Our Exeter Excellence Scholarships recognise outstanding academic achievement, offering funding to help cover the costs of studying at the University of Exeter. We are committed to attracting talented students from around the world to become part of our dynamic university environment, where you will have access to exceptional teaching, learning, and academic research whilst contributing to our vibrant global community.
Scholarships available:
Awards of £3,000, £5,000 or £10,000 are being offered by the following departments:
Environment, Science and Economy
- Computer Science
- Earth and Environmental Science
- Ecology and Conservation
- Economics
- Engineering
- Finance and Accounting
- Geography
- Management
- Mathematics and Statistics
- Physics and Astronomy
- Biosciences
- Clinical and Biomedical Sciences
- Health and Care Professions
- Health and Community Sciences
- Psychology
- Public Health and Sports Sciences
Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences
- Arab and Islamic Studies
- Archaeology and History
- Classics, Ancient History, Religion and Theology
- Communications, Drama and Film
- English and Creative Writing
- Languages, Cultures and Visual Studies
- Law School
- School of Education
- Social and Political Sciences, Philosophy and Anthropology
All campus-based Postgraduate taught degrees (Masters) in the above areas are eligible, except the following:
Ineligible PGT programmes - One Planet MBA; MA International Film Business; MSc Island Biodiversity and Conservation; Clinical Psychology programmes delivered by Clinical Education, Development and Research (CEDAR); DEdPsych Educational Child and Community Psychology; Master of Public Administration (MPA) with Applied Study; Law programmes delivered by the University of Law, MA Law (SQE1), MA Law (Conversion), LLM Legal Practice (SQE 1&2), SQE Preparation Courses); Graduate Law LLB ; MiPDAL Dual Masters in Intellectual Property Law; Postgraduate Certificates; Postgraduate Diplomas; Degree Apprenticeships. Fully online or distance learning programmes are also not eligible.
Entry requirements
You can apply for one of these scholarships if you:
- have International fee status (including any EU applicants required to pay International fees in 2026/27)
- already hold an offer (conditional or unconditional) to study an eligible Postgraduate taught degree at the University of Exeter, beginning in September 2026.
(These scholarships are intended for self-funded students.)

Scholarship recipients are selected on:
- Academic merit, based on the information you have supplied in your Masters programme application. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate that they have achieved or are able to achieve the equivalent of UK upper second class degree (2:1). See our Entry Requirements pages for further guidance.
- The ability to demonstrate the following as part of the application process: academic and career ambitions; a clear plan for making the most of the study opportunity; a sense of social responsibility and willingness to engage with the Exeter community.

A personal statement (of no more than 300 words) is required as part of the form, responding to the following questions:
- What are your ambitions for the future and how will your studies at Exeter help you to achieve them?
- What will you contribute to the study experience/environment on campus at Exeter?
- As a scholar, how might you act as an ambassador for the University?
Round 1 of this scholarship scheme closes on Thursday 15 January 2026. Eligible offer holders who apply by this deadline will be notified of the outcome of their scholarship application by Thursday 12 February 2026.
These scholarships are awarded as a reduction in the first-year International tuition fees. They are not recurrent for subsequent years of study. They can be combined with a University of Exeter Postgraduate Taught Scholarship 2026/27 for Bangladesh, Canada, Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey or Vietnam to a maximum award value of £10,000.
