Languages

In today’s connected world, language skills expand your opportunities. Employers value graduates who can navigate different cultures with confidence and at Exeter you can develop those skills alongside your main degree.
You can begin or continue learning a foreign language alongside your core subject through the Language Centre from your first year to final year, with modules available throughout your degree. You can use the module bank in the Study Guide or your course pages to view module descriptors and find more details about the modules available.
By completing 60 credits, you can add “with Proficiency in” a language to your degree title at no extra cost.
Languages available through the Language Centre:
- Streatham: British Sign Language, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
- Penryn: Spanish and French.
If your programme does not allow optional credits, you also have the option of taking a course in the Evening Language Programme as part of your extracurricular activities.
