Geography, Geology and Marine Science (Streatham, Exeter & Penryn, Cornwall campuses)

This Exeter Scholars strand provides an opportunity to get a taster of what it is like to be at the forefront of learning about the Earth and the different environments that we live in. We will host several types of sessions for you to get involved with, from lab work to interactive talks and activities so you can see, first-hand, how our landscape is changing.

This strand is an excellent opportunity to find out what it is like studying subject such as Geography, Geology, Marine Science, and Environmental Sciences at degree level. It runs across our beautiful Penryn campus in Cornwall and our buzzing Streatham campus in Devon to showcase the full breadth of our Geology, Geography & Marine Science degree programs.

Activity locations

Subject activity sessions will take place on the University of Exeter Streatham campus, Devon and Penryn campus, Cornwall with the exception of one field trip (details and location TBC). 

Over the course of January through to July, you will take part in varying subject sessions to explore the Earth and everything within it - and even beyond it! You will gain an understanding of the differences between human and physical Geography, and the importance of both whilst applying what you are learning to real life concepts.

You will also gain first-hand experience of using microscopes within our specialist Geology lab and have the opportunity to explore our interactive Rock Museum as part of the world-class Camborne School of Mines. Each session will develop your knowledge of the skills needed to study a Geography, Geology or Marine Science based degree programme.

Students must have achieved GCSE grades 4/C or above in English Language and Mathematics. 

Priority will be given to students studying a science at further education.

In order to pass the programme, you must attend a minimum of 4 out of 5 subject activity sessions, as well as the Exeter Scholars Student Conference.
