Health and Care Professions: Medical Imaging and Nursing (St. Luke's campus, Exeter)

Look beyond white coats and stethoscopes and discover the amazing wealth of lesser-known specialities, disciplines, and careers that make up the 'multi-disciplinary team' of UK healthcare. Putting healthcare roles such as Nursing and Medical Imagery at the forefront of your learning, this course will feature sessions based on the work, research, and practice of the University of Exeter’s Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, from undergraduate study to high-level specialism and beyond.

This Strand runs over six sessions between January and October, led by staff from the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, and giving you a taste of Nursing and Medical imaging. You'll get hands on experiences exploring the human body and healthcare, from learning about your senses in nursing, to trying out X-rays, ultrasounds and Physics labs. You will also develop practical clinical skills and take part in fun, problem solving activities like an escape room. Along the way you'll discover the wide range of careers and opportunities beyond medicine, while experiencing teaching, research and practice that make this faculty so diverse and exciting.
Students must have achieved grade C or 4 in both GCSE Maths and English Language.
Priority will be given to students studying one or more of the following subjects at A Level or the equivalent qualification:
Biology/Human Biology; Chemistry; Computing; Design and Technology; Electronics; Environmental Science; Environmental Studies; Geography; Geology; Maths/Pure Maths/Further Maths; Life and Health Sciences; Physical Education; Physics; Psychology; Science (applied); Statistics.
In order to pass the programme, you must attend a minimum of 5 out of 6 subject activity sessions, as well as the Exeter Scholars Student Conference.
