As an ambassador for your discipline, you will design, deliver and reflect on a series of sessions in which you support others to learn about your subject. With your academic tutor, you will identify a suitable ambassadorial role within your discipline (e.g. academic tutoring, peer mentoring, outreach) and be provided with suitable training to engage effectively with your audience.
Through the gathering and judicious selection of evidence, you will prepare a portfolio to showcase your work, reflecting on both the practical aspects of your ambassadorial work, as well as the underpinning theory in the educational and subject literature.
The aims of this module are: to provide a means of engaging students with ambassadorial work in their subject; to support them in delivering effective learning support to their target audience; and to teach the student ambassadors how to reflect effectively on their experiences.
This module will be of particular interest to anyone who envisages a career in education or public engagement and is designed to develop a range of key graduate skills for employability.
