Module description

In this module you will be taught about the main approaches to diagnosing fungal disease. You will first look at identification of yeasts using classical biochemical methods, MALDI-TOF and molecular methods and the importance of identification to species level for various sample types. Immunodiagnosis of fungal disease will be covered using demonstrations and discussions of antibody and antigen detection. Various methods of antifungal susceptibility testing will be discussed including reference methods such as CLSI and EUCAST and commercially available methods.
