Module description
This module provides you with an understanding of the range of impacts that mining may have on society and the environment. It covers vital issues of corporate social responsibility, social license to operate, stakeholder engagement, and political & environmental factors that affect mining decisions. You will learn how environmental impact is measured, monitored and controlled, and what sustainability means in the context of mining. You will explore international and local mining legislation, expectations of local people in mining regions, and social, economic and environmental impacts of mine closure at a local, regional and national scale.
