Module description

In this module, you will address the challenges of developing offshore energy projects including fixed and floating wind, tidal and wave energy. You will gain a detailed understanding of the marine and wind resource and techniques for their measurement and analysis. You will investigate the technologies and understand how to calculate device performance at a particular site and how to calculate annual energy production. You will also gain an understanding of the environmental context of offshore development and learn about the impact of offshore devices throughout their life cycle. All these elements will be brought together in a detailed site planning exercise using GIS to identify and analyse appropriate sites for development based on technical, practical and environmental constraints.
