Module description

In this module, you will develop your knowledge of the legislative and professional framework that governs radiographers together with associated managerial, professional and inter-professional issues encountered in clinical practice. The resulting framework of knowledge and skills supports safe and equitable practice.

Module aims - intentions of the module

This module aims to equip you with the knowledge to fulfil the non-clinical aspects of your role as a diagnostic radiographer such as compliance with governance and professional responsibilities.

On successfully completing the module you will be able to...

  • 1. Evaluate the impact of current Health and Social Care policy on professional practice
  • 2. Discuss approaches to mentorship, clinical leadership, management and innovation within transdisciplinary teams and the impact of cultural, geographical and organisational factors
  • 3. Critically evaluate individual professional roles, principles and values on interprofessional team members across partnerships and professional practice.
  • 4. Evaluate the drivers and processes/barriers to quality improvement, clinical effectiveness, patient safety, service enhancement and workforce planning
  • 5. Develop a broad understanding of all aspects of equality and diversity in healthcare practice.

  • 10. Develop a service improvement proposal by using and producing research, identifying strategic context, analysis, recommendations of improvement, change management, capacity building and implementation of identified change.
  • 11. Demonstrate understanding the importance of their own mental and physical health and wellbeing strategies in maintaining fitness to practise and how to take appropriate action if their health may affect their ability to practise safely and effectively.
  • 12. Appraise the influence of resilience and emotional intelligence in communication, produce clear accurate and timely records, and confidently contribute to the interdisciplinary team.
  • 13. Demonstrate proficiency at accessing and using digital literacy to inform safe, quality healthcare.
