Module description
Spanish Intermediate Two is intended for those who have successfully completed PLS2230 Spanish Intermediate One or who have a level broadly of AO / AS (Grade A-B) or an A level (Grade C or below) or equivalent. The module provides a systematic approach to building on essential grammar structures in a communicative context.

Module aims - intentions of the module
The module exit level is at B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference and aims to:
- Consolidate the essential structures of the target language, developing both vocabulary and range of language structures thus equipping students with the linguistic tools to enable them to communicate effectively in a variety of social situations
- Further develop active and passive language skills, including comprehension skills in listening, productive skills in speaking, reading and writing
- Deepen students' understanding and appreciation of the customs, culture and society of the regions/countries in which the languages are spoken and to develop student awareness of the general social and cultural background of the language

Syllabus plan
The module provides a systematic approach to acquiring essential grammar structures in a communicative context and in accordance with the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Prepare exercises and activities for class, write assignments and further develop a repertoire of effective language learning strategies. Re-assessment notes
For the re-assessment, there will be no in-class listening test, instead there will be an oral test (30%) and a written examination (70%).
Deferral – if you miss an assessment for certificated reasons judged acceptable by the Mitigation Committee, you will normally be either deferred in the assessment or an extension may be granted. The mark given for a re-assessment taken as a result of deferral will not be capped and will be treated as it would be if it were your first attempt at the assessment.
Referral – if you have failed the module overall (i.e. a final overall module mark of less than 40%) you will be required to submit a further assessment as necessary. If you are successful on referral, your overall module mark will be capped at 40%.
