Module description

This core Arabic language module builds on Advanced Arabic I, which is a prerequisite for students enrolled on the MA Advanced Arabic, MA Middle East Politics and Advanced Arabic, and MA International Relations and Advanced Arabic.

It will continue to develop the core language skills – writing, reading, speaking, listening, grammar and translation – through diverse texts and audio-visual material (classical and religious texts, literature, film, print and social media) and will include significant focus on spoken Arabic and dialect in order to prepare students on the module for a period of Study Abroad in an Arabic-speaking country in term 3. There will be 6 hours of contact time per week and assessment will be through written assignments, listening exercises, oral presentations and end of term exams (oral, listening, speaking).
