This module will focus on the application of biomechanics to predict and reduce trauma and degeneration. The prediction of injury due to physical trauma can be categorised into blunt force and penetrating trauma. You will be immersed into problem based learning with case studies from actual alleged murder cases where the investigation of incidents required the use, identification and definition of impact injury mechanisms. The degeneration aspect of the module will build upon the content of the biomechanics, and biophysics of cell and soft tissue modules to provide a deeper level of understanding of the degenerative processes in the tissues of musculoskeletal system that lead to pathologies such as osteoarthritis and degenerative disc disease.
