2. Description of the Programme
There is growing public concern about climate change, degradation of natural resources and ecosystems, and the role that humans are playing in accelerating these changes. Business leaders of the future will need increased awareness of environmental systems and their interactions with social, economic and business systems.
Based on our Penryn Campus, Cornwall, the interdisciplinary programme will equip business leaders of the future with a unique combination of knowledge and skills within core business and economics processes, and their fundamental interdependencies with environmental systems. There are options for you to undertake relevant work placements and study abroad in order to help contextualise the issues faced by businesses in an increasing environmentally aware and global society.

3. Educational Aims of the Programme
The BSc Business and Environment will prepare you to be an environmentally conscious business leader of tomorrow. Graduates will:
• be adaptable and resilient to the changing needs of modern business
• be able to contribute long-term solutions
• have a grounding in a wide range of business topics including accounting, economics, organisational theory and analytics, as well as key topics in environmental change
Compulsory modules in statistics, analytics and innovation will enable you to creatively and imaginatively work with modern data technologies to critically appraise challenges and identify and confidently communicate the opportunities associated with interactions between business and the natural environment.
The wide range of business, management and environmental skills developed throughout the programme will result in flexible employment options including roles such as project manager, sustainability manager and sales manager. On graduating, you may have employment advantages in private companies, public organisations, investment banks, NGOs, and third-sector industries, including key areas for Cornwall such as, water, renewables and food supply chain.
You will be able to tailor your learning with a choice of optional modules to reflect your individual interests, such as: legal and global implications of sustainability, ocean/human interaction; social enterprises; etc.
Optional work placements and study abroad programmes will enable further development of essential work-based skills such as communication, leadership, project management, commercial awareness, and time management.
This combination of ethical, work-based, and global skills will support you to compete at the highest levels and progress onto graduate programmes perhaps to become a CSR manager, Change Manager or Environmental Consultant.
4. Programme Structure
BSc Business and Environment with Industrial Experience programme is a four year programme of study at National Qualification Framework (NQF) level 6 (as confirmed against the FHEQ). This programme is divided into four ‘Stages’. Each Stage is normally equivalent to an academic year. The programme is also divided into units of study called ‘modules’ which are assigned a number of ‘credits’. The credit rating of a module is proportional to the total workload, with 1 credit being nominally equivalent to 10 hours of work. Students will be located at the Penryn Campus, Cornwall of the University of Exeter for the duration of their studies.
Interim Awards:

Personal and Academic tutoring: It is University policy that all Colleges should have in place a system of academic personal tutors.
