Profile

My research is focused on the efficiency and durability enhancement of PV and CPV systems using PCM materials as part of the RESCUES project.  I am particularly interested in understanding how effectively we can utilise the heat dissipated from these systems. In addition to this I am currently involved in different capacities for a number of projects in the field of Solar Energy. These include SUNTRAP and a UKIERI-DST project. Previously, I have also worked in the BioCPV project in which I have developed a remote data monitoring system and introduced the concept of secondary Conjugate optics for HCPV systems.

During my PhD research I explored the importance of non-uniform illumination in Concentrating Photovoltaic systems. I have designed and analysed different types of Building Integrated Concentrating Photovoltaic systems and have introduced novel solutions of improving their efficiencies. My particular focus has been on development of a optical-electrical and thermal model which could be used for any CPV system.

In December 2013 I won the Impact award under the Sustainable futures category for my PhD research.

I am a researcher with experience in multiple areas of engineering design and energy management. I have extensive experience in the area of product design and its associated numerical analysis using simulation software. I am very well versed with computational tools involving finite element, and computational fluid dynamics.  

I am a practiced user of several software’s namely, Ansys, Fluent, COMSOL Multiphysics, Solid Works, OptisWorks, Trnsys, ASAP, APEX, EES, SAM, PVSYST, IDEAS, RetScreen and PRO-E. My current interests are in using 3d printing technologies in the field of solar energy.

I am also a member of the Renewable Energy department in the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences and support their teaching programme.
