Clean technologies is a key theme in the interdisciplinary research being planned at the Environment and Sustainability Institute.

Clean technologies

Within the Environment and Sustainability Institute we aim to develop a significant portfolio of research projects linked to renewable energy and sustainable mining and minerals resourcing.  Research in these fields is already well established at the University of Exeter and we are well positioned to develop additional work in conjunction with local partners.

We envisage that this theme will broadly encompass the following areas:

Renewable energy:

  • Renewable heat and cooling,
  • marine renewables,
  • solar energy, and
  • wind energy.

Sustainable mining and minerals resourcing:

  • Clean technologies in mining,
  • environmental geochemistry,
  • carbon footprint and energy life cycle analysis, and
  • impact assessment.
