This session will explore the benefits of making your research data, publications and other research outputs open access, as well as informing researchers about the different open access publishing models available. Open access to publications is now a requirement of a number of major funders (including all the RCUK funders and the Wellcome Trust) and University and HEFCE policy. Participants will be able to identify the advantages of open access, the routes to making research open access, how they can increase the visibility of their research data and how they can use the institutional repository, Open Research Exeter.
- By the end of this course you will be able to:Understand the different open access options
- Be aware of which research outputs can be published on open access and how publishers’ restrictions may influence approaches.
- Understand how to use the University’s institutional repository and where to get support.
