Peripheral Visions: a festschrift for Jeremy Holmes

Richard Mizen is the programme lead for the MSc Psychological Therapies Practice and Research, Doctorate in Clinical Practice and Professional Qualifying Course in Psychodynamic Pscyhotherapy. He has over twenty years experience working as a psychoanalytic/analyst in various settings.

About the Course

A key feature of psychoanalysis, and its progeny, including attachment theory, is valuation of the unseen, the repressed, the undervalued and the marginalised. In this unique conference, we celebrate Jeremy Holmes’ centrifugality and non-partisan eclecticism and how they have informed the Exeter University’s programme of psychoanalytic studies, and his own work combining contemporary attachment theory with current psychodynamic practice.

The conference speakers – representing psychiatry, clinical psychology, psychoanalytic research, group analysis, family therapy and cultural studies -- cover topics ranging from attachment theory, child development, contemporary neuroscience, family therapy, institutional health and failure, and literature. Friends and colleagues of Jeremy, distinguished writers and practitioners all, they will explore their own cutting-edge preoccupations, and how they relate to the overall theme of peripheral visions.

Who is the training for?

This training is open to anyone with a keen interest for the subject matter.

Training is to be held at the Sir Henry Wellcome Building for Mood Disorders Research, University of Exeter, Perry Road, EX4 4QG.
