Welcoming Mat (Mat Welcoming) exhibition
Penzance-based Rachel Lambert is the Environment and Sustainability Institute's Artist-In-Residence. She spent most of April developing new ideas and creative outputs inspired by the interdisciplinary research context of the institute. Her exhibition will be displayed throughout May 2026.

Join fellow postgraduate research students for a friendly facilitated writing session during the Festival of PGR Research. Throughout the afternoon, we will blend 30-minute periods of quiet time to work on your own research writing with short breaks and creative prompts.

Reflective Journaling for Researchers
Many researchers use reflective journals throughout their research journeys, but are given little guidance about what exactly these journals are meant to achieve, or how. In this workshop, we will address this training gap by considering the theory and practice behind different applications of research journaling. In addition to exploring recommendations from the literature, participants will be invited to share their own practices and insights about keeping a journal.

Using your Writing Brain to write your research
This one-hour session is designed to answer questions postgraduate research students may have about the nuts and bolts of thesis writing, from coming up with ideas to learning how to structure paragraphs, to punctuation basics, with special attention to the new Writing Brain website, a comprehensive one-stop location designed to help with all academic writing needs.
