How to apply
Completing your application form
Proposed programme details
If you are applying online the programme title, code, and whether full-time or part-time are automatically filled in under the programme details section.
Before completing the form ensure you have selected the correct programme and meet the entry requirements as detailed on the programme webpage.
Applying through an international agent
If you are applying through an educational representative or agent and are applying online, select the agent’s name from the drop-down list. If you are completing a paper application and wish correspondence to be via an agent, you should give their details in the Personal Details section.
Personal details
Permanent address
This should be the address should be where you normally live, not your place of work or where you temporarily live (if, for example, you are at university). Please notify the Admissions office if you change your permanent address. If you apply online the permanent address details are automatically provided on the form from the address you give when you register to use the system.
Contact address
If you are living temporarily away from your permanent address, please also provide your temporary address for correspondence, stating clearly the dates you will be at that address.
Please remember to supply us with your email address, so that we can send you confirmation that your application has been received and notify you of the status of your application and other important information throughout the application process.
Special needs
We welcome applications from students with disabilities and do all we can to ensure that your participation in life at the University is as successful as other students. Please alert us to any needs you may have by providing information in this section.
Academic qualifications
Please list all relevant academic and professional qualifications. You should only include academic qualifications at first degree (Bachelors) level or above. You should send a transcript (in English or a certified translation) showing subjects studied and grades obtained for each year of your studies.
Module information
You will need to complete this section if you are applying before completing your qualifications or are unable to send a transcript for all qualifications listed in your application. Please give details of all relevant modules that you have yet to complete and the expected date of completion.
English language requirements
If English is not your first language you will need to submit evidence of a good command of English. For further information see our English Language requirements webpage.
Work experience
Please list only work experience that is relevant to the programme to which you are applying.
Further information
You will need to include here a supporting statement outlining your reasons for wishing to undertake your chosen programme at the University, an explanation of your suitability for this programme and, for research degrees, any prior experience of academic research.
References
Check whether one or two references are required for the programme for which you are applying.
You should supply at least one reference from an academic referee who is in a position to comment on the standard of your academic work and suitability for postgraduate level study. Where this is not possible, we will accept references from other sources that provide evidence of your ability to undertake postgraduate study and suitability for your chosen programme.
Your referee(s) can either complete a paper copy of the form and post it to us or complete it electronically and send via email. If your referee emails your reference to us we can only accept this if it is sent from a university or company email address. Paper reference forms should be endorsed by an appropriate institution/company official stamp. Alternatively we can accept a letter of reference on official institution/company letterhead.
UK residency/nationality
If you were born outside the UK but now live in the UK, please complete this section to enable us to ensure you are placed in the correct tuition fee band.
Fees and source of funding
Please indicate your proposed source of funding and the fee level you expect to have to pay for the programme for which you are applying. The final decision on fee rates will be at the discretion of the Admissions Office and you may be asked to provide further information to enable us to determine your fee status. Funding opportunities are limited in number and competition for them can be intense. Please indicate if you wish to be considered for any University funding schemes.
Criminal convictions declaration
For programmes involving contact with children or vulnerable adults, any criminal convictions, including sentences and cautions (including verbal cautions), reprimands, final warnings and bindover orders are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
If you are applying for such programmes, we will ask you to for a disclosure from the Criminal Record Bureau, known as a CRB Enhanced Disclosure. Details will be sent to you on how to fulfil this. Further information can be found on our CRB webpages.

Please tick the box on the application form confirming that the information you have given is true, complete and accurate. Discovery of false information or omissions could lead to an offer being withdrawn or, in the case of students already registered, to their withdrawal from the University.
