Accommodation in Exeter

Deliveries and post

In most residences, post can be collected from Reception. Please bring your student card to show; post will only be given to the person it is addressed to, so other residents cannot pick up items on your behalf.

When you’ve had a parcel delivered to your Residence Reception, please only go to collect it once you have received an email to your University account from 'Send Suite Tracking'. This means that your delivery has been processed by the Reception Team and is ready to collect.

High value or important items should be directed to your reception and collected within 7 days.

The University cannot accept large bulk items, including food deliveries. Residents should make their own arrangements with suppliers to meet the carrier to take these deliveries.

Find out where to collect your post and parcels on your residence webpage.

Collecting post during vacation

Arrangements for collecting post and parcels during vacation times is different to term time. Please contact your reception for more details.

Writing your address

All mail needs to be correctly addressed to make sure that it reaches you. Take a look at your residence webpage to find out how post to you should be addressed.

Before leaving your accommodation, you should arrange to have your post redirected. Tell everyone who needs to know your address has changed two weeks before you leave, including your bank and other companies you deal with regularly. Redirection of post can be arranged with Royal Mail for a small fee.

Post will be sent ‘Return to Sender’ if you no longer live at the accommodation and have not arranged redirection.

Mail can be sent to other addresses within the University through your reception.

There are Royal Mail post boxes for external mail either on or close to the campuses. Mail collection times vary and are shown on the post boxes.

Food deliveries

If you arrange a delivery that contains food, perishables, or alcohol (for example from a company like Hello Fresh or a supermarket delivery), you should be there to accept your delivery and meet the driver at the specified time. We cannot accept food deliveries on your behalf.

If your delivery comes in re-usable crates, please either return them to the delivery driver or place them in the nearest bin store for collection later. These crates shouldn’t be stored in or directly outside your accommodation. There may be a charge if staff have to move them to the bin store.
