Nominated decision-maker in exceptional circumstances

Our contract is with you as the applicant and we are not obliged to discuss any aspect of your application with a third party unless we receive written consent from the applicant.  We are aware that from time-to-time applicants may for specific reasons have limited access to any communication tools for more than 2 months. In such circumstances we will allow you to appoint someone to act on your behalf if the grounds are deemed exceptional by Admissions.

The nominated decision-maker (NDM) will be able to withdraw the application, request a deferral, request a change of course and request reasons for the application being unsuccessful. All requests from the NDM must be received in hard copy, all responses will be sent in letter form also. The requests must include the following correct information:

  • Student number (Postgraduate) OR
  • UCAS application number (Undergraduate) OR
  • GTTR application number (PGCE)
    AND
  • Course name application received for
  • Full Name of applicant
  • Full Name of Nominated decision-maker
  • Date of birth of applicant

We will require the applicant to complete the consent form and send it to the Admissions Office at the address, email (containing scanned signatures) or fax below. All information disclosed on the consent form will be treated with the upmost discretion and confidentiality. We will not be able to accept a third party’s decision on behalf of an applicant if we have not received a completed consent form. The signature provided by the NDM will be used to verify requests received by them. Once we have received the completed form we will contact the applicant and confirm if we approve the reasons for nomination or not.

The Nomination will remain in place for the cycle unless the applicant advises Admissions in writing to remove the privilege. Once an applicant has declined their offer, their application been unsuccessful or the applicant registers as a student the Nomination will expire.  A nominated person will not be recognised in the second year of an application, a new request will be required, and this is likely to occur where an applicant has applied for a deferred place at the University.
