Open Days

Open Days give you the opportunity to find out more about the University and decide whether Exeter is the right choice for you before you apply. They are packed with opportunities for you to see a range of facilities, meet staff and students, and experience the atmosphere of the University for yourself.

You can now book your place on our Open Day at our Penryn Campus, Cornwall.

They are a great way to find out more about the campuses, our locations and the degree programmes on offer. These events are informative and varied, and include:

  • subject presentations and sample lectures
  • a tour of the campus and student accommodation
  • general presentations on all aspects of student life
  • talking informally to lecturers in your chosen subject
  • meeting representatives from a range of support services.

Before booking a place at one of these events we strongly recommend that you visit our subject and programme pages to check which campus your subject is available at, and to see the latest information about our entry requirements.

Booking for the Open Day at our Exeter Campuses on Saturday 6 September is now closed.

If you would still like to visit the Exeter campuses there will be a further opportunity to visit us during the coming October Half Term (27th-31st October) when we will be running a programme of subject specific talks, information and campus tours. Please check our website during September for further details.

We also run regular campus tours throughout the year and applicants who receive an offer will be invited to attend one of our Offer-Holder Visit Days in February  and March. Individual subjects may have other opportunities to visit which will be listed on their subject webpages.

Our next Open Day for the Exeter Campuses will be in June 2015.

The Exeter campuses comprise the Streatham and St Luke’s campuses. These campuses are located in Exeter, close to the city centre.

Subject presentations

During the day, the University's Colleges will be running subject specific presentations where you can find out more about the course content, meet academic staff and current students and see our first class teaching and research facilities.

You can choose up to two subject areas that you are interested in. Before booking your subject presentations, we recommend that you visit our programme pages for the latest information about programme details and our entry requirements.

In addition to the subject presentations you have booked, there is also the opportunity to visit our Academic Fair, in the Great Hall, where you can pick up information on other courses you may be interested in and speak to College staff to help you choose the right course for you.

Support services presentations

General presentations, tours of the campus, sports facilities and accommodation and the Academic and Information Fairs will run from 10:00-16:00. Everyone can attend and there is no need to pre-book.

Student life

Current student ambassadors provide a short account of what it’s like to be a student at Exeter. They tell of their experiences of the academic support and facilities, and what they do with their spare time both on and off campus.

Student finance

Jo Thomas from the Students’ Guild Advice Unit gives an overview of student finance and the support available to fund your studies, including potential expenditure, funding sources, how to apply for student finance, and an overview of the additional support offered by the University.

Applying to the University of Exeter

Ian Blenkharn, our Head of Admissions, runs through the UCAS undergraduate application process including useful tips for completing your application, as well as what the University is looking for in your application.

Exeter Sport and the Athletic Union

Exeter is one of the leading sporting institutions in the UK, consistently ranked nationally in the top 10 sporting universities. In this presentation, Paul Mouland, Sport and Wellness Development Officer, and Alex Powell, Athletic Union President, cover facilities, opportunities, scholarships and clubs.

Employability and Graduate Development

The University offers an exceptionally wide range of opportunities for students to become more employable and develop the skills employers want. Employability and Graduate Development provides advice and information about graduate careers and develops new project and placement opportunities for our students. Paul Blackmore, Head of Employability and Graduate Development, tells you all about the services on offer and what makes our students employable.

Accommodation options

Our team of Accommodation Advisers will give details about the accommodation the University offers undergraduate students, including information about our catered and self-catered residences, the services we provide and the cost of accommodation. She also explains how and when to apply for accommodation and how we process your application. 

AccessAbility and Wellbeing Support

This session gives an overview of the advice and support on offer to students with specific learning difficulties and physical and mental health conditions, to enable them to achieve their academic potential.

Booking for the Open Day at our Penryn Campus on Saturday 27 September is now open. Go to our Penryn Campus Open Day booking form to book your place.

Our Open Days run from 09:30 until 16:00 and reserving a place is required.

The Penryn Campus is 100 miles west of Exeter, situated near Falmouth, on some of the most stunning coastline in the UK.

Visitors travelling to the Penryn Campus Open Day from outside Cornwall will receive a £75 travel allowance. You will be sent a claim form upon booking which you need to hand in on the day.

Student life

They tell you about their experiences of the academic support and facilities and what they get up to in their spare time both on and off campus. The presentation is delivered by two current Student Ambassadors, Bethany and Chris.

The presentation is delivered by Students’ Guild Student Adviser, Jo Thomas.

The presentation is delivered by the Head of Admissions, Ian Blenkharn.

Offer Holder Visit Days

If you apply to the University of Exeter and are made an offer of a place to begin your studies in September 2015, you will be invited to one of our Offer Holder Visit Days which will be held in February and March 2015 in both Exeter and Cornwall. You will be sent a link to book for one of these dates with your offer email.
