The on-campus living experience is a priority for our first-year undergraduates who want to be within walking distance of Streatham Campus. East Park, our largest student residence development since 2012, plans to provide 1,182 modern bedrooms on a site marked for development for the University’s use since the 1970s.
Involving current students in the design process to shape the look and feel of the future residence has been central to the selection of University Partnerships Programme (UPP) as the preferred bidder to design, build, fund, and operate East Park. East Park will offer prospective students the opportunity to choose from a range of room types and rent levels and enjoy a variety of amenities.
Reserved Matters planning approval for the East Park development was granted in October 2018. Works commenced in early 2019 with the new accommodation set to open in two phases from September 2020 and September 2021.
East Park forms part of our commitment to ease the pressure on accommodation in the city, as well as providing a range of options for future students alongside our other new student residences Moberly and Spreytonway.
Resident liaison meetings
To provide regular updates on the project we will be holding resident liaison meetings to provide members of the community an opportunity to come and discuss the development. Members of the University, UPP, and VINCI Construction UK will all be available at the sessions to answer any queries.

Extended working hours
Due to the impact of COVID-19 and the increased requirement for social distancing our contractors have received permission from Exeter City Council to extend the working hours for the East Park development. The extension only applies to interior works which we expect to cause minimal disturbance.
Our new working hours are:
Monday – Friday:
08.00 – 18.00 – interior and exterior works permitted
18.00 – 20.00 – interior works only
09.00 – 13.30: interior and exterior works
13.30 – 18.00 – interior works only
The University of Exeter is currently operating with reduced staffing on campus due to the ongoing COVID-19 response. We are continuing to work remotely where possible and can still be contacted using the details on this page.

The temporary roadway across the grass area at the top of Rennes Drive, adjacent to Car Park B, is now in use. The existing road is now closed.
This temporary roadway is a single track with a passing bay. Use of this roadway will be shared between pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles. We advise a maximum speed of 5mph, please take care when in the area. The trackway has been designed for all vehicles and users we have identified as accessing these spaces, however should you experience any issues or have any concerns please get in touch.
We are creating an enhanced permanent footpath and roadway with improved lighting at Higher Hoopern Lane as part of the East Park project. Thank you for your patience whilst these works take place.
